Client: $Multi-Billion Real Estate Development, Investment, and Management Company
Title of Search: Vice President, Controller
Assignment Profile:
The prior Vice President, Controller is transitioning to a position with the parent company, and the client seeks a replacement to direct all accounting systems and financial reporting for its property management division. The new Vice President, Controller will manage a department of over 30 Accounting and MIS professionals.
Search Strategy:
- Conduct in-depth research on major real estate development and management companies throughout the country
- Identify Corporate Controllers and Regional/Divisional Controllers whose focus is on property/operations accounting as opposed to SEC financial reporting
- Distinguish potential candidates who manage accounting functions for portfolios similar or greater in size than those of client
- Select potential candidates with over 10 years of real estate accounting experience who have managed over 20 employees and have spent the early parts of their careers with a Big 4 Public Accounting firm
- Determine which candidates have demonstrated ability to implement change and think strategically
